Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:7-10

Insight: Today as we continue our look at Jesus as the Great Physician and Healer, who alone is able to heal all aspects of our life, we look at how Jesus can heal us when we are suffering from loneliness, which is many times different than being alone. In fact, I‘ve many times felt lonely when in the midst of a large group of people, even when some of them were good friends. I have felt lonely even when I was with my family whom I love the most. Loneliness is a deep emotional feeling that is not based on other people, it is based on a longing for something that is hard to put our finger on. It is a longing for more completeness, more love, more something that our soul is craving, that is hard to quantify. But I have found that Jesus alone can heal me of my loneliness and take away that awful feeling of being lonely even when you’re not alone.

It is important to have a mindset that nothing can separate us from God’s presence as the scripture above from Psalm 139:7-10 speaks of, if we are going to overcome our lonely feelings. No matter where we are, God is there with us. What a great thought to know that no matter where you are in the World, no matter what you are going through, God is with you! He is ever present in your struggles, in your loneliness, in your hardships and pain. He is with you in your triumphs, in your travels, in your desires. There is nowhere we are, where He cannot be. This thought has literally brought me so much joy when I was sad, when I was lonely beyond measure. It brought me contentment when I was all alone and far from home, on the other side of the World. It helped me not feel lonely, even when I was physically alone. Nothing else has ever been able to fill that void. No matter our circumstances, God is with us! Let that thought permeate your soul when you need a change of focus. It is the only tonic for the loneliness we all experience on this broken planet. Psalm 139:13-18 gives us the reassurance that we are never alone, and that our Creator knows us by name, and He cares more than we will ever know: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,    I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.”

Prayer: Jesus, thank you that you alone can take away our loneliness and make us feel content, even when we are physically alone. We are so grateful that you know us by name and you have a great, eternal plan for us. Without you, we would truly be lonely. Amen!
