Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”- Daniel 7:13-14

Insight: As we continue our series on Understanding The Times, today let’s consider the great hope we have as Christians because of the sufficiency, strength and power of Jesus Christ and the eternal nature of God’s Kingdom. The scripture above from Daniel 7:13-14 is one of my favorite Old Testament Prophetic Scriptures because it speaks to the power of God’s sovereignty of all of time. One of my favorite lines for when I need to restore my focus and reclaim the hope I have in Jesus is “His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” This turns my focus off of my problems and back onto the glory that we are all heading towards when God restores all that has been broken on this earth. Jesus promised Peter in Matthew 16;18 after Peter had rightly proclaimed that Jesus was the Messiah that “on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Well, if we need some good news and hope, this is it because as Christians we are part of the body of Christ, and nothing that happens on this earth will ever overcome God’s coming Eternal Kingdom! The church began on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came and filled Jesus’ followers, and it will continue until the rapture of the church. Jesus is the head of the church, and we as believers from every tribe, tongue and nation are His body.

If you’re like me, I know that right now there are many times when you just want to scream out “ God, don’t you see what’s happening? How can you let this go on? Don’t you see how it appears evil is winning?” We can become riddles with fear and anxiety, anger and hopelessness, if we aren’t quick to come back to the power of the sovereignty of God and accept the fact that His ways are so much higher than ours ( Isaiah 55:8-9 ) and that all things are being worked out in His perfect way. Romans 15:13 is a go to verse for me to remain hopeful even during tough times: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” As Christians, we have an enduring hope in the One who paid it all for us. Nothing can thwart Him and He has been given all power and dominion over the earth that is building to a crescendo as we all eagerly await His return. Let the truth of these scriptures above and below reign over any fears of anxiety you may be feeling at the present and be in awe of the total power that has been given to Jesus, our Rock and our Redeemer.

We have hope because we have Jesus, and that is all we need. The victory is ours through Him and all power is with, in and through Him forever. “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.  For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,  and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”- Colossians 1:15-20

Prayer: Father God, Thank You for Your Son Jesus who is “is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” We need Him right now to hold us together and to manifest His power in our lives to keep us from being derailed by the evil and corruption that is rampant right now. Thank You that we have hope in Jesus, and that Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen!
