Thought- “1,000 times I fail, still your mercy remains. Should I stumble again, I’m caught in your grace. Everlasting, your light will shine when all else fades. Never ending your glory goes beyond all things.”- Lyrics from the song “From the Inside Out” by Hilsong United.

Scriptures: “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” – Ephesians 1:7

Insight: In day 39 of learning to apply biblical principles to our daily life, what we are referring to as Practical Christianity, let’s consider what it means to be covered in God’s amazing grace and to know that His grace is sufficient for us. Grace is after all what saves us ( Ephesians 2:8-9). It is the shining example of God’s endless love and pursuit of us. No matter how many times we fail, and fall, and stumble, His grace is always there waiting to restore us, to redeem our brokenness, to make us whole again, to make our knees buckle with the weight of that kind of reckless love. Sometimes a certain song’s lyrics speak right to your heart. This was the case for me with the song “From the Inside Out” by Hilsong United, some of whose lyrics are above. These lyrics are personal to me, because they remind me of how great and deep and immeasurable God’s mercy and grace are that they keep catching me as I stumble and fall throughout my life. I never want to take that for granted. That is amazing, and it should always invoke awe and gratitude. God is worthy of all of our praise for the way He never gives up on us.

I am blown away even more by His love, grace and patience, because I am keenly aware of how much and how often I fail in extending this same approach to others in my life. It hurst me that my nature is so far away from His nature. But I am hopeful that he will continue the good works He has begun in me to completion ( Philippians 1:6 ) and I am praying that I can be made more like Him through my proximity to Him. By nature, I tend to be impatient, yet he teaches me a better way of unfailing patience. He forgives. I am prone to hold grudges, but he teaches me to forgive 70, seven times so my soul is not hunkered down by the sludge of unforgiveness. I am critical of myself and others, He is merciful and full of grace. I stumble, he catches me. Again and again and again. What kind of great love is this? Praise be to His great name! His grace is amazing, and it is enough. Never give up on yourself and never forget He never gives up on you. When we fall, remember His grace cacthes us every time.

Prayer: Father God, thankfully for all of us, your grace is amazing and unending. For that I am full of gratitude. I am in awe of how many times I stumble and you catch me with your grace. May that never be taken for granted. You are worthy of all our praise. In Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen!
