Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.”- Isaiah 40:28
Insight: One of the things that I find very helpful in my faith walk is to look back at the Ancient names that the Jewish people had for God and apply it to my current situation. This reminds me that God has many different attributes and characteristics that are meant to provide the help we need in our life journey for exactly what we need, when we exactly need it. God is bigger than our wildest imaginations. He is Omniscient ( All Knowing ) Omnipotent ( All Powerful ) and Omni-Present. ( Everywhere at once ) He cannot be, nor should He be, shrunk down to our life size box we try to fit Him into so we can better understand Him. However, He does want us to know Him and His ways in a most personable manner.
Tonight we will consider the name Yahweh-Ghmolah. Yahweh-Ghmolah meansThe God of Recompense. The Lord says in Romans 12:19 “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”says the Lord.” We should never avenge others for what they do to us, but leave it in God’s hands. Boy, is this a challenging concept for us humans. In our flesh, we so want to take revenge on those who have hurt us, or done us wrong. We feel like we owe them one, and we are convinced that they surely deserve it.But God says differently. He tells us that we have n right to take revenge, because in His eyes, we all have sinned. Therefore, it is up to us to trust that He is the rightful and final arbiter of truth and justice. Yahweh-Ghmolah says leave it up to Him. That sounds so easy, but we know how hard it is to live this out. But God always challenges us to trust Him in all areas of our lives, even these areas that are beyond tough or what we consider fair. As always, the question for us is this same: Do we trust Him, even when we don;t understand?
Prayer: God we thank You that you are Yahweh-Ghmolah , the God of recompense. You are the only One who deserves to be the final and fair arbiter of truth and justice. We must forget about how we feel in our flesh and learn to trust You in all circumstances, even when it’s so hard. We praise Your Holy name Lord Jesus. Amen!
