Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

ScriptureAs the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” Psalm 42:1-2

Thought of the day- What does your soul thirst for? I mean really yearn for? Ibet if I asked a random sampling of a Million people what their soul thirst for, in other words what they crave at the very deepest part of their soul, very few would mention God. Very few people today, deep in their core, desire to know God and His ways above all else. But that was not true of King David who, although a very flawed man who had his life ravaged by the ill effects of sin, still sought God above all things in his life. So much so that God referred to him as a man after His own heart. Acts 13:22 says this “After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.”

So this makes me wonder if God would think the same about me. Do I want to know God above all things? Does my soul thirst for Him? Do I let others know my desire to know God better by the way I spend my time and by the way I live my life? Am I selfless, putting others’ needs before my own or am I selfish, still clinging to the faulty desires of my flesh? These are things I put before my God and ask Him to help me with. We prioritize what we value, and like any relationship that is illustrated in the time we are willing to spend with someone. I do want to know Him above all things, and I do want my soul to pant for the Living God. But I need to ask for His help in making this happen. I need to surrender trying to make things happen on my own and simply spend time in His presence. He alone can change us from the inside out, until all of our other desires pale in comparison with knowing Him above all else.
