Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’- Matthew 7:21-23

Insight: Imagine you had a best friend in College and he had another friend who always tagged along to everything you did, but he never really got to know you and you just kind of put up with each other. Then 40 years later he is in your home town and needs a favor. He calls you up on the phone and pretends like you are best friends, and he has known you forever. He asks if he can stay at your house while he is in town, drive your car and use your Country Club to entertain some of his clients. How would you respond? Most people would be like, sorry dude but I never knew you.

Now imagine you’re Jesus and you have made yourself known throughout the generations. Anyone that seeks you will find You according to Matthew 7:7 and Jeremiah 29:13. Anyone that has access to a phone or a computer can find out anything they want about you. They can download an app and study from your Word found in the Bible. They can watch movies or documentaries about you and learn how you were crucified on a cross to take away our sins so that we could be reconciled back to God, and then you were resurrected on the third day to prove you were Immanuel, God in the flesh. We were offered a chance to be made a new creation in you, 2 Corinthians 5:17, without any penalty due for our sins. You paid our sin tab in full. But yet we spend our entire life rejecting you, mocking you, denying you and vilifying you all over again. We blame you and take your name in vain, but yet we fail to even acknowledge your existence.

Then one day we die, and we are called to give account of ourselves in front of You as 2 Corinthians 5:10 says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” We get a glimpse of the beauty of Heaven in front of us. We see inexplicable glory and a beautiful white light that brings peace to our senses. But only those who acknowledged Jesus as Lord and Savior while they were alive ( Romans 10:9-10 ) are permitted to enter. Suddenly, a panic overcomes you and you start blurting out all the good things you perceive you did in your life. You rattle off a list of your accomplishments, titles and money that you made. But Jesus is not impressed. You talk about the times you helped people in a way that you thought was good, and you desperately plead with Jesus to let you enter through the gates of heaven. But His answer is found in the scripture above in Matthew 7:23: “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.” At that point it is over. There is no more time on the clock. The game has expired. You are left with the stark reality of spending eternity separated from the One who loved you so much that He paid it all for you, but in your foolish pride you rejected Him. Don’t let this happen to You. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior before it is too late, and you will change your eternal destiny. No other decision matters more in your life!  Romans 10:9-10 says “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Prayer: Father God, bring millions to Your Eternal Kingdom through saving faith in Your Son Jesus before the end comes. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
