Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”- Romans 8:28

Insight: Due to popular demand, and an overwhelming need for me as the writer to indulge in worship as well during these difficult days, this week we will return to lyrics that lift our souls and focus our attention on the goodness, strength and sufficiency of an all powerful God through worship. The very act of worship invites God into our lives, into our difficulties. It draws Him in, so we can sense His presence. It allows us to not minimize our problems, but instead to shift our focus from our problems to His sovereign ability to help strengthen us through our storms. We should never diminish our struggles, but we can worship the One who is bigger than the storms we face. We should lift our head in faith and look up, before we lash out in fear. We should follow the Creator and not the crowd.. He is bigger than any problem we face. But first we must surrender all things over to Him and admit how much we need Him. We must first invite Him in. Complaining pushes God away, but worship invites Him in, to draw near to us.

I love a song by Mercy Me called ”Even If.” This song reminds us that even if God doesn’t answer our prayers in the way we had hoped for, he is still faithful and He is still worthy of all of our praise. This song is so real, because it deals with the reality of the brokenness in this world, where even when we are walking close to the Lord, we can surely experience disappointment, pain and suffering. Yet, ultimately God is our only true hope. Some of my favorite lyrics from this song go like this: They say it only takes a little faith to move a mountain. Well good thing because a little faith is all I have, right now. But God, when You choose to leave mountains unmovable, oh give me the strength to be able to sing it is well with my soul. I know You’re able and I know You can, save through the fire with Your mighty hand. But even if You don’t, my hope is You alone. I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt would all go away if You’d just say the word. But even if You don’t, my hope is You alone. You’ve been faithful, You’ve been good. All of my days Jesus, I will cling to You, come what may. ‘Cause I know You’re able, I know You can. I know You’re able and I know You can save through the fire with Your mighty hand. But even if You don’t, my hope is You alone. I know the sorrow, I know the hurt would all go away if You’d just say the word. But even if You don’t, my hope is You alone.

What powerful and truthful words these are. Sometimes, we have to just admit we don’t understand God’s plan, but we can still trust in God even when we don’t understand or like His plan. He is faithful and He is good even when our circumstances are not.

Prayer: Father God, thank You that we can trust You even if we don;t understand and even if we don’t see our prayers answered in the way we prayed for. We must trust that You know what is best for us and for Your Kingdom in all circumstances, and somehow You will work it all for good in the end. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
