Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Psalm 42:7

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3:22-23

Insight: One of the profound mysteries of our personal faith walk is how it is constantly evolving over time. It is never static. We are either gaining ground in our proximity to God through Christ or we are losing ground. Why is this? It is because our enemy never sleeps. 1 Peter 5:8 says it this way “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Therefore, we must always realize how vulnerable we are to his attempts to sabotage our faith walk and trip us up. The enemy is always using deception and subtle tactics. That is why today’s quote is so important to remember each day. In fact, it came in quite handy for me recently when I was able to see a large stronghold that had been hidden from my view for a long time that was bearing down on me and stealing my joy.

Today’s quote is “Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done”  My recent experience brought this quote to life and reminded me that this is a day to day proposition we are in when we give our life to Christ. There is always a deeper level of revelation required for us to get truly set free, as Psalm 42:7 alludes to above. I was made aware during my deep prayer time that I have been on a path that was subtly more about glorifying me than God, even though on the inside I really thought I was glorifying God. The enemy had turned my good intentions against me to try and use God to glorify me, instead of using me to glorify God. It was so deceptive but it was causing great discomfort to my soul. I felt the weight of the world upon me and have been trying to live up to a false set of expectations until when reading something it triggered the thought that I was trying to use God to justify myself to Him. He whispered to me today “I already love you just as you are. My Son died for you just as you are. Stop striving in your own power and turn it over to me.” 

We’ve all read the scripture in Matthew 6:24 that says “you cannot serve both God and money.” But I was made aware in a vivid manner that you also cannot serve God and your plan. It needs to be His plan, His way not our plan, His way. This is not easy. In fact, it is excruciatingly hard. It will require us to be completely pulled out of our comfort zone and it is extremely scary and often very uncomfortable. But we must know deep down to our core that we can trust Him, and Him alone. Everything else will eventually let us down, or worse fail us completely. Surrender is complete only when we get to the point that says I want to serve you God and you alone. Take my plans and throw them in the trash. That’s the exchange that took place recently in my prayer time. I instantly felt a weight of burden fall off of my body and I felt lighter and freer than I had in a long time. The battle is new every morning and thus we need to remember C.S. Lewis’s quote that says: “Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done,”  but so too God’s faithfulness is  new every morning and that is all we need to gain victory over the enemy’s subtle tactics. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3:22-23

Prayer:: Father God, we are in a battle that never ceases but luckily for us, your faithfulness and compassions are new every morning and bring us the victory. Help us to demolish strongholds in our life by being vulnerable enough to allow You to go deeper and deeper into our soul to reveal hidden things that we need to correct so we can find true freedom. We surrender to You Lord and that is a very good thing. In Jesus name. Amen!
