Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

Insight:  Be a warrior, not a worrier. When we are close to God, spending time in His word and on our knees in prayer, we can sometimes feel His power literally coursing through our being. We can be so in tune with the Creator of the Universe that we don’t see or feel all of the distractions or challenges circling all around us. But when we take our eyes off Him, even if only for a brief bit of time, we can quickly become aware of how inadequate we are and all the challenges around us suddenly become front and center and we can become almost paralyzed by fear. I have certainly felt both emotions and it is always surprising to me how quickly we can go from a warrior to a worrier mentality. The idea is that when we are near God, His sufficiency can provide us with a warrior mentality. When we are far from God, our insufficiency can quickly turn us into worriers.  So, are you near or far from God right now? He is always available, like 7-11 He is always open, but it is our responsibility to approach Him. He will never make us, but when we do, we will be transformed from worriers to warriors, because as Romans 8:31 above states, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Let’s face it, in our human condition no one can ever maintain a direct relationship with God every minute of every day. We all face the darts of the enemy that seek to deceive, distract and destroy us. But as we grow in our faith, we can learn to take every thought captive as 2 Corinthians 10:5 implores us, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” The battle is ongoing and always intense, and it’s primarily fought in our mind, so we must consciously choose to have a warrior mentality or we will quickly become worriers, and lets be real, there is plenty to worry about if we so choose. Discipline is required and keeping “our mind fixed on Christ as the pioneer and perfecter of our faith”, (Hebrews 12:2) and constantly being renewed in our thinking (Romans 12:2) is the key to winning our daily battles, so we can be the warriors God wants us to be for His Kingdom, and not the worriers the enemy wants us to be to destroy our witness.
