Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”- Revelations 3:7
Insight: Have you ever felt like every door you try to walk through gets slammed in your face? Like none of your dreams and aspirations are coming true? I have been experiencing this to one degree or another in various parts of my life for a few years now and honestly it can really challenge your faith. But I was also made aware through some great leadership from one of my mentors that it can actually be used by God to grow your faith in a deeper and more meaningful way than almost anything else you will experience in your faith walk.
The two teachable moments that really resonated with me from one of my life mentor’s wisdom were: Through the difficult waiting periods and the doors being slammed shut, God is keeping you from going down a wrong path that will waste valuable time for when He is ready to open the door to your destiny, the door which no one will be able to shut. But that will require real faith to take hold of His plan, and so God needs to build our faith through the painful waiting periods to prepare us to receive the open door He will bring in the future. He knows what He is doing, so we must trust Him through the painfully difficult periods of waiting and often rejection of our plans. The second is that when God takes us down these dead end paths, He begins to take away our messy pride which can stand in the way of His plans. He does this so when the door opens wide to our deepest prayers, and we see the answer to our heart’s desire, we will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that only He could have provided it. And when He does arrange the details and the opportunities to make the impossible become possible, it will be absolutely the most awesome experience we can have on earth, and we will rightly give God all the glory and bath in the beauty of the depth of our relationship with Him.
So, it is never easy, and if you are at all like me, you will question everything about your faith, but through it all your faith will be made stronger if you don’t give up. It is most likely that He has been shutting doors which no one can open, so He can open the big door which no one will be able to shut, for which you were created. It is always darkest before the dawn, but eventually the dawn will come and we will be freer than we have ever felt before, knowing our God is with us until the very end of our days.
Prayer: Jesus, let us feel your presence and cling to our faith when all of our being wants to give up and run in the opposite direction. We must trust your plan during the excruciating waiting periods of life is to grow our faith. Your timing is perfect, but it is never easy. Give us strength, patience and perseverance. Amen!
