Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:6-7
Insight: We are not equipped very well as humans to endure the type of stress we have been living under for the past year. It has been a horror ride of global uncertainty, instability and deceitfulness. In our own strength, we can’t possibly cope with all of the fear and suffering we have been assaulted with, and in most cases at no fault of our own. But the very good news is, we don’t have to. We have a God who gives us His Holy Spirit that enables us to capture the peace that “surpasses all understanding,” according to Philippians 4:7 We can rely on our faith in a loving God who paid our sin tab in full with the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus. Only faith in that type of loving God can take all of our fears and worries off of us and put them onto Him, the One who can handle all of our stress and strain. When we fix our eyes on Him and not on our own troubles, we find that His grace is sufficient for us, as promised in 2 Corinthians 12:9 when it says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Our job is to be real and honest with ourselves and tell the Lord we need His help. Tell Him we are weak and weary. Cry out to Him and let Him know how much you need Him. This is not a time to be going it alone, in your own strength, playing hero. The forces of evil that are assailing the globe right now are too strong. Instead, we must fight this battle on our knees. We must be prayer warriors, freely admitting that without God’s help, we cannot endure the trials that have come upon us. Help us Lord Jesus, in your mighty and powerful name. Amen!
