Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”- Hebrews 4:12-13
Thought of the Day- We now live in a very sad time in American History when our “free press” is no longer free, but has become victim of a hostile takeover by large corporations with a political and financial agenda. They no longer seem to even try to hide their deceitfulness, they are fine with just outright lying to manipulate the masses. All news has sunk to the level of tabloid magazines, using the tactic of click-bait to get you to click on the most outlandish of headlines in order to garner more advertising revenue. Ephesians 2:2 says that satan infiltrates the media “as the prince of the air” in order to deceive, distract, divide and destroy lives and nations. John 8:44 is even more descriptive of the current state of the press in America when it says “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
But there is a juxtaposition to the lies of the media and that is the truth of scripture. The verse of the day above from Hebrews 4:12-13 starts with the phrase “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.” This is what the light and the truth of God’s word does when spoken into the darkness: It penetrates, it reveals, it divides. God’s truth is so sharp and alive and active that even non-believers feel its force. No one can hide from it’s truth. There is nothing hidden from God and nothing that will not be revealed in the end. Hebrews 4:13 says ”Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” So the question we must ask ourselves everyday is, “Who am I going to trust, the media or the Bible?” It’s never too late to turn from what you know is untrue and seek the truth found in God’s word. Unplug from the divisive and deceitful flow of fake news and turn to the Bible, the only news that is so full of truth that “it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” There is still a place to go to find truth in this world, and it is in the Bible. Open it up and you will find the richest treasure available to mankind in order to find the answers to all the questions you have.
