Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”– Matthew 5:9

Thought of the Day-   We are many, yet we are one. We are all part of the same race; the human race. What unites us must be greater than what divides us. These sayings sound good, and should be mantras we are all striving to live by. But boy do they feel like they are a long way away right now. So we must ask, what has happened? Why are we so far away from living the way God intended us to? I believe political differences are causing people in America to lose their mind and their humanity all at the same time. Fueled by a divisive, ratings crazed media machine, people are literally being pitted against each other based on what side of the political spectrum they fall. How silly! How dangerous! How sad!

People must always be cognizant of our value as human beings, because of God’s words that tell us so. He created us in “His own image,” and he made us set apart from all other living creatures. One of the ways he made us distinct is He gave us a morality that separates us from other living things. But it is hard to see that today if you watch the news or listen to political commentary. Instead, it is as if our morality has been torn from us and we are treating each other with a lack of morality at best, and with pure evil at worst.

I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that as Christians, God expects us to stand in the gaps that exist in the world, and become peacemakers through our words, deeds and actions, especially through prayer!. Jesus taught His greatest lessons in the Sermon on the Mount, and being a peacemaker was so important to Him that He said whoever does this will be called “children of God.” In other words, they will reflect the very character of God. That is pretty huge praise! Prayer is the thing that binds us to our God and as a Nation, we need to continue to pray more than ever for our Country to be united, not divided, and to be compassionate, not hostile, towards those who think differently than we do. A Nation that prays together, stays together. We need to lead from our knees and give thanks that though the political winds blow, and the media gets hysterical with their need to be heard, God never changes, as Hebrews 13:5 says. He is the Harbor in the tempest and we need to stay connected to him more than ever through the power of prayer. Let’s pray for healing for our Nation by crying out to Him with 2 Chronicles 7:14: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  May God hear our prayers and heal our land. We desperately are in need of healing!
