Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Insight: We all carry wounds with us in our life from things that have happened to us, especially those things that came about as no result of our own. It could be abuse in its many ugly forms, the loss of a loved one or a dear friend, a workplace slight, a financial disaster or many other things. These events can leave deep emotional scars, especially when they happen in childhood, and in order to compensate many times we build walls around our hearts to keep others out, or to protect us from feeling any more pain. In extreme times of distress or emotional weakness, a natural reaction is to depend on our pride to defend us, and we create a kingdom of self-reliance, which is heavily defended territory. In other words, we are wounded and we rely on our pride to survive. But this is not the best countermeasure to our pain. A much better measure is to rely on Jesus and His strength and power to heal our deep emotional wounds. We need to be honest when we have been hurt or are hurting, and tell Jesus how we feel. We can tell Him we don’t have the strength to carry on and we need Him to help us. I have seen this many times in my own life and He always shows up to provide the wind in our sails we need to navigate life’s troubled waters just in time. When you are wounded or hurting, don’t rely on the Kingdom of self, but rather turn to God’s Kingdom promises and let His power keep you from falling deeper into the pit of despair. He alone has the power to save and restore us from our deepest pain.

Prayer: Jesus we need you when we are hurting. You promise us in the Sermon on the Mount that “blessed are the broken-hearted, for they will be comforted,” and so many people are hurting in the world right now. Please be our Comforter and Redeemer. Your strength is so needed right now. Please Lord, come in your power and sustain the broken-hearted.
