Today’s weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture:  Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30

Insight: So many people I talk with right now are overwhelmed with fear and dread, depression and anxiety. They are scared and frightened about the future or regretful about the past. Many are alone or feel isolated. Mental and emotional health is on the decline, and many don’t know where to turn for the help that they need. But the answer is the same for all of us, no matter what the individual story or issue is: JESUS is the answer, the only One who can bring the hope, healing, peace, strength and courage we need to face tomorrow. He is the only stability we have in an unstable world. When He died for forgiveness of our sins on the Cross, He died for us individually as if we were the only person alive on the whole earth. That is how personal our God is, and that is the type of intimate relationship He invites us into, and that we can have with Him.

Everyone is going through something right now, and whatever it is, it is very individual in nature and based on each person’s unique circumstances and past experiences. But God knows all about every one of us individually, and He wants to help! But you have to ask first for His help. That is why the scripture above is so important to read and understand. God is pleading with you to lay all of your burdens down at the feet of Jesus. Jesus is inviting you to draw near to Him, so He can help you with whatever is afflicting you. Listen again to the beauty and power of His invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30

Yet amazingly, many will neglect or reject His personal offer out of false pride, and continue to try and fix their issue in their own strength, which will never work and will only lead to an increase in fatigue and depression over time. We have to know our limitations, and invite God into our circumstances because only He has the answers we truly need. He knows us because He formed us. Psalm 139:13-16 says “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you    when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” We don’t serve a distant God who is unable to relate to our circumstances  but an intimate God who is pleading with us to rely on Him and let Him help us in the midst of our pain and fear. Because Christ came to this earth and lived and died a human life, He is able to sympathize with everything we are going through. He is inviting us to give Him all of our burdens in exchange for His peace. Why wouldn’t you want that trade? All you have to do is invite Him in, and He promises all of His promises can be yours.

Prayer: Father God, we live in a broken and fearful world where many are searching for answers that only You can provide, Help people through your Spirit to turn to You and trust You to find the peace and stability that they are seeking in Christ Jesus. Amen!
