Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture: “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” – Psalm 1:1-3

Insight: We can learn so much from the Biblical Heroes like King David, who is the only person in the Bible ever referred to as “a man after God’s own heart,” Acts 13:22. God led David through a myriad of different circumstances that tested his faith, grew him, challenged him and led him to become the greatest King of Israel and the human bloodline out of which Jesus himself was born. Therefore, we just should pay close attention to the life of David recorded in the Bible and try to learn as much as we can from him and apply it to our lives in a practical way. We will study some of the Scriptures over the next 30 days that David wrote and see how his life is a great teaching moment for us today. David was a man who sought after God with great intensity and spent much time in His presence. David knew he couldn’t make the decisions he needed to make, or lead the Nation of Israel the way they needed to unless he was relying on God’s power, strength and wisdom. We can learn a lot from David in this area.  Proximity to God through meditation on His word found in the Bible leads to a security and ultimately to an abundant existence as we rely on Him and not the treacherous path of the sinful, rebellious mockers of God. Psalm 1:1-3 above speaks beautifully to the benefits of following God closely, and spending close proximity to Him. It would be good to follow his lead in this area.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to learn from you through your word and through the past Biblical Heroes like King David. We are blessed to have him to learn from in our life. Amen!
