Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”- 2 Corinthians 1:20

Insight-  As we continue on our journey of what it means to live victoriously, today let’s consider how we can grab hold of the promises of God to live victoriously. In the Bible, God makes a lot of promises to us as His followers through Jesus Christ. The main question we have to ask ourselves is do we believe them? Do we think that they are ours to claim? According to the scripture above in 2 Corinthians 1:20, no matter how many promises God has made in the Bible, it is over 2,000 or so, the answer is a resounding “yes in Christ Jesus,” therefore we should claim them all to help us live our lives to the fullest. The promises of God through Jesus is what empowers us to persevere when life is hard and gives us the endurance to run the race we are called to. We should be bold and courageous, not timid and fearful. We should be kind, not ruthless. We should be patient, not in a rush. We should be forgiving, not vengeful. We should be free, not in bondage. We should be repentant, not prideful. We should be light in the darkness, love in the hate, peace in the chaos and unity in the division. We should be a magnet for those who are trying to go through this life on their own, without the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help them make wise decisions that don’t end in destruction.

We all know that when Jesus speaks in the Bible, in most versions His words appear in red letters. Here are some of my favorite promises of Jesus that I cling to help me live victoriously, even amidst great pain and suffering, which is unavoidable in this fallen world. I hope they comfort you as well and give you an unshakeable faith and hope in Jesus Christ:

Matthew 5:3-10 from the Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Mathew 7:7Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Mark 10:27 “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Luke 24:7 “‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.”

John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.  My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am.

John 15:7-8 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

These are just a small sample of the beautiful and glorious promises Jesus gives to us in the Bible. I hope they encourage you to dig deeper and seek God’s word and His promises above all else. He promises if you seek Him, you will find Him!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for all of your promises to us, your believers, found in the Bible that sustain us and give us hope when life seems hopeless. Thank you that all of your promises are Yes in Christ Jesus! We can always rely on that, and that is all we need!! Your truth is eternal and it is not open to change, or influenced by cultural happenings. It is the rock on which we can stand! Thank you that this life is just the beginning of our eternal existence and that You will be with us forever. We praise you in jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
