Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”- Hebrews 12:2

Thought of the Day-  Diminished faith begins not with our circumstances, but with wrong focus. When our minds are renewed, and fixed on Jesus, our faith will be also restored. Have we let our circumstances dictate our level of faith? It is an easy trap to fall into. But it is potentially very harmful. Our faith must not be tethered to our circumstances. When we are focused on our circumstances, we become anxious. We tend to ebb and flow with the headlines of the day, and in this age of fear based media hysterics that is a dangerous place to be. Fear is all around us, and can lead to mental and emotional paralysis, if we are focused on the “news” instead of on the One who calms the seas and navigates the storms of life for us.

Jesus alone can provide a safe harbor amidst the tempest’s of life. When we get our focus off of God’s promises, it is so easy to become distracted. Do we remember Christ’s faithfulness in past situations to help us get through the current storm? Do we remember Christ’s power that was given to us through the Holy Spirit, as promised in John 14:12 to help us overcome our feelings of weakness and inadequacy? The anecdote for our fears is always a deeper faith. We need  to bring our focus back to God, read scripture, remember God’s past faithfulness, and to keep proper perspective in the current situation and trust in God alone. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Our faith grows stronger through right focus and that allows us to live above the fray and stay strong even when our circumstances are less than ideal!
