Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

ScriptureThen you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”- John 8:32

Insight: Where do you turn to find the truth in a world that seems devoid of it? I mean, the media and big tech has become a place where truth is no longer relevant, where censorship reigns and free speech is muted, and where they just spew whatever will advance their political bias with no regard for truth. It is all just gossip rag material now. We have quickly devolved during the global pandemic into a place where there is a giant lack of trust amongst nations, people in power, neighbors  and especially along political affiliations. Trust and truth are at an all-time low in my lifetime. But the fact remains that all eternal truth is found in the exact same place it has always been found in, that is in the pages of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3;16 says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

We don’t have to fear because the Bible never ceases to be the truth we need in order to navigate the troubled waters we find ourselves in right now on this earth. Hebrews 4:12 speaks to the enduring relevance of God’s word that never goes out of style like a fashion trend or some man-made edict. It never loses its effectiveness: It states “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” God’s word is the place where truth lives forever and it will complete its work until all prophecy is fulfilled and Christ returns to earth to reign in victory for all of eternity. Knowing the truth will “set you free,” as the scripture above says in John 8:32. Especially in these treacherous times, it is important to know that we have a safe harbor of truth that can keep us sane in an ever increasingly insane world, where good is called evil, evil is called good as Isaiah 5:20 warns us about, and all sorts of “noise” is vying for our attention. Now, more than ever, it is critical to cling to the truth of God’s word. If you put the word “truth” into the NIV Bible, you will get back 137 verses that speak to various aspects of truth. I encourage everyone, including myself, to review these verses often, as they keep us sane about what real Godly truth is and means. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 25:5 which says, “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” We need to ask God to guide us in His truth, so we don’t get tripped up by false descriptions found in other places. The old saying that “if you don’t know what you stand for, you will fall for anything,” seems more relevant than ever right now. Cling to God’s word. It is the light of the world, and the darkness cannot stand in its presence. Storms may be all around us, but as Christians we know we have a safe space to go to find truth, which leads to peace, serenity and contentment even in the midst of the turmoil that is swirling all around us.
