Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”- Revelation 3:20
Insight- I saw the movie Jesus Revolution this weekend, and there was a great line in the movie that really challenged me. It said “people searching for Jesus can only walk through an open door.” What a great thought to carry with us throughout our brief time on earth. How many times do our preconceptions, differences or mis-understandings keep us from being an open door for those who are desperately seeking to find Jesus? I know for sure that in hindsight there have been many times when I was a closed or shut door based on pure pride and ignorance. I wish I could have those moments back, but I can’t. All I can try to do is be a wide open door in the future and be a conduit for those who are in search of what only Jesus has to offer. James 2:13 says “because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” I know I can certainly be more merciful and less judgmental in my interactions, and have had to repent many times when made aware of my own ignorance. I think the best thing a Christian can be is an open door, a conduit to Jesus. I know I am mostly a closed door out of fear, and an open door when I am completely trusting Jesus and not my own misguided instincts. How about you?
Prayer- Father God, help me to always be an open door that leads people to You, no matter how inconvenient it may be. You are worthy of it all. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen!
