Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”- John 13:34-35

Insight: We live in times of noise and distraction where if we are not careful, it is so easy to get swept away into the anti-God vortex we are currently living in, that as Christians we can feel lost in the world. Almost all media today is set up against God and filled with a demonic spirit of human pride, where humans think they have all the answers needed in order to survive some of the huge challenges currently facing humanity. For these times, we must depend on Scriptural Truth more than ever as the antidote to the false messaging of the media, and we must know how to practically apply the lessons from the Bible in order to not only survive but to thrive in these times.

Today I was praying as I was reading Scripture, and the thought came to me about how the media has divided people based on identity politics to tear us apart and pit us against one another. It is the complete opposite of what the Bible teaches us and what Jesus himself taught about loving one another, as John 13:34-35 says above. It is like our collective bond and purpose as each other’s neighbors and sojourners here on the earth has been torn in two, and we are more divided than ever before, all around something as insignificant as political affiliation. So, I pondered this in prayer and thought about how did this happen? Who is responsible and is healing even possible at this point?

I can honestly say that it seems to me that there are forces of evil and darkness on the earth right now that are increasing in intensity and one of the main results is people are being sifted like wheat. We know there is a spiritual battle that rages far above our heads as Ephesians 6:12 refers to “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” But the speed at which people are being divided and pitted against each other, and the malice with which some treat those they disagree with on a myriad of issues is truly shocking, and can only be led by the enemy of our souls himself, the great deceiver satan. There are many scriptures which point to the fact that God allows satan to to work on the earth for periods of time, but ultimately the result is for God to use satan;s work for His own benefit and glory- the saving of many souls, as Genesis 50:20 proclaims. As people grow despondent and lose their ability to feel like they have any sense of control or power of what is happening on the earth, eventually many do make the wise choice to simply die to themselves and begin to follow Jesus. This is ultimately God’s only goal, to grow His Kingdom and to save souls. Sometimes, satan is a tool God uses to accomplish His purposes, but it doesn’t make it easy during the periods of conflict like those we are experiencing currently on the earth, where people are so divided. 2 Timothy 2:25-26 says during these times “Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” So I am praying for people to remember we are each other’s helpers, not each other’s enemies, and what unites us is so much greater than what divides us. God is in search of Peacemakers during these times, and Jesus himself said in Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the Peacemakers; for they shall be called children of God.” Therefore, let us remember this exhortation from Paul to the Corinthians in his second letter to them and let us try to live for one another instead of against one another. “Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”- 2 Corinthians 13:11

Prayer: Father God, help throttle the work of the enemy who is using the media to sow division and chaos on the earth right now. May we remember that we exist to love one another, not to hate each other because of some political disagreements. I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
