Insight:  Because of popular demand, we are going to continue this week with more song lyrics that give us great hope and put things into proper perspective. The simple act of worshipping the Lord is a mood elevator and needs to be an everyday occurrence as a Christian. The fact is when we sing, when we pour out our praise to the Lord, we feel better. This week we will continue to look at some of my favorite Christian song lyrics that lift my mood and reset my focus on the strength, love and grace of our God. Today, let’s consider some lyrics from the song “So Will I,” by Hillsong United. One of my favorite parts goes like this: “Once you have spoken, all nature and science follow the sound of your voice, and as you speak, a hundred billion creatures catch your breath. Evolving in pursuit of what You said, if it all reveals your nature so will I. I can see your heart in everything you say. Every painted sky is a canvas of your grace. If creation still obeys you, so will I.” I love this song because it boldly and beautifully speaks to God’s power of Creation and the way He speaks things into existence. It is a poetic song of reverence, praising the One who is responsible for creating the entire Universe and all of its splendor, species and significance.

King David often wrote of his wonder with all that God had made and this song emulates King David’s heart. Psalm 145:10-13 is a good example of how David meditated on the majesty and power of God when it proclaims: “All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.” The lyrics of this song  “So Will I” bring the awe of God into a form of worship that is powerful and mood elevating. It rightfully places us in a place of reverence for all that God is and has done. His Kingdom is truly an eternal Kingdom, and we are filled with joy when we acknowledge him in  song with reverence and awe.

Prayer:  Father God, You are the all powerful God of Creation. You created us in your own image and called it very good ( Genesis 1:31 ) and we are pleased to honor you in worship, for you alone are worthy of all of our praise. Amen!
