Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 58:8
“Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.”- Matthew 15:30-31
Insight: The Bible records many encounters where Jesus attracted great crowds as He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, gave speech to the mute and allowed the deaf to hear. He even raised Lazarus from the grave in John 11:43-44. “People were amazed and they praised the God of Israel,” according to Matthew 15:31 above for what Jesus was doing. He was the One who people wanted to see and touch as He wandered through the Judean Countryside performing His miraculous acts of healing. Those stories encourage us and make us aware of God’s great power to do above and beyond anything that can be explained in the natural world. But how do these stories relate to us today? Are these stories too distant to capture our attention the way they demand? I sure hope not!
I have seen Jesus work firsthand in my own life to heal and restore areas of my life that were dead and broken. It wasn’t my body but it was my soul that He healed. He took away a lifetime of burden, bitterness and anger I had been carrying around for the better part of 25 years due to a broken relationship with my earthly father. God restored it all and He turned my weeping into joy because He let me know my self worth was not defined by a broken relationship with a flawed person, but rather by how much He loved me and by the enormous price He paid to forgive me of all my sins and offer me a lifeline to the Eternal Father in Heaven. Are you harboring any resentment today because of what someone has done to you that simply wasn’t right? Do you have anger or bitterness because of your circumstances and what has come upon you due to no fault of your own? Please believe me when I say God can heal it all. Ask Him to help you and he promises He will respond in Matthew 7:7. Unresolved anger, bitterness, and pain will hold you captive and destroy your soul. It will steal your energy. It will make you drink the poison of vengeance while you’re hoping the other person gets sick, but you are the one who is really in bondage. Jesus alone can set you free from your shackles of pain and bring about the freedom your soul is pleading for. Will you bring all of your hurt to Jesus and simply say to Him, “this is too much of a burden for me Lord, please take it all away and restore me and teach me how to forgive those who have hurt me the way you do.” Thank You Jesus! Watch and see what the Lord does. You will be healed in a way that is just as powerful as the stories found in the Bible- your soul will be alive like never before.
Prayer: Jesus thank you that You are the Mighty Healer. You can heal not only our broken body’s, but also our broken souls. Help us to forgive those who have hurt us and to put all of our trust in you so that we can be set free. In your name we pray! Amen.
