Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”- John 16:13

Insight: As we continue our discussions about the many aspects of the Holy Spirit, today we will consider the Spirit’s ability to guide us throughout the course of our life. If you look at the Scripture above from John 16:13 it says that  “when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you in all the truth.” In other words, He will help us understand and discern what is true from what is false. In today’s media fueled chaos of swirling rumors and mis-information and sometimes outright lies, it is vitally important to be able to discern what is truth. The only reliable way I have found is through the Holy Spirit’s prompting and by running everything against the, truth of the Bible itself. We hear of cross checkers or fact checkers a lot today, but I often have been left wondering who’s fact checking the fact checker’s, because many times they are riddled with their own, sometimes very obvious, political bias. Therefore, we need to be able to allow the Spirit to guide us in all truth. This takes intentionality and time spent in His presence. The Lord speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, therefore we need to set aside time to hear and listen to what He is saying to us. Like any relationship, time spent is a requirement. We need to be bold in asking for His help and quiet enough to hear His answers. King David relied on the Lord to guide him throughout his life. We have the Spirit to guide us in order to keep us out of danger, to make sure we are on the right path, and to lead us in reaching our destiny for which we were created. If we ask, seek and knock, He promises to answer as Matthew 7:7 says. The biggest benefit we got of all is finding freedom to live boldly in our lives, knowing the Spirit is guiding us in all ways for our benefit. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says it this way: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” I say amen to that!

Prayer: Father God, thank you that you gave us who believe in the Holy Spirit “to guide us in all truth.”  We need the Spirit to help us discern truth in the tangled web of lies that exists in today’s media culture. Help us to always trust in you and not in what we read or hear in the daily news. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
