Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.”- Romans 11:5
“Please hear our petition and pray to the Lord your God for this entire remnant. For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left.”- Jeremiah 42:2
Insight: Throughout the Bible, God always uses a remnant, a small group of His loyal and ardent people, to save the day. God delights in those followers of His who do not shy away from impossible odds, but step up and agree to be used by God in ways that glorify God’s power through their courage and willingness to be used by Him. David fighting Goliath when everyone else was cowering was a good example. Gideon was another great example when God kept pairing his army down in size, from 32,000 to just 300, so that just a remnant remained in order to gain an unlikely military victory over the mighty Midianite Army. But probably my favorite story is of Joseph, whose brothers had sold him into slavery, thinking they had gotten rid of him once and for all. But God certainly had a much bigger plan for Joseph’s life than anyone, including himself. could have imagined. Joseph succinctly communicates this in Genesis 45:7 when he says: “But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.” God used Joseph as His remnant to feed His people in Egypt and keep His plan alive for their eventual exodus out of Egypt.
Our Country and our World are going through difficult times currently and God may be preparing His people again to be the remnant, the ones who will save the day because of their faithfulness and trust in Him. The remnant always saves the city. Total trust in God and abandonment to self is required. It is all for His glory, but the victories are staggering in scope and will be the most exhilarating thing that we could ever be a part of. God is searching the earth to find His remnant. I want to be a part of it. Will you be ready to be part of God’s remnant if God calls you?
Prayer: Father God, You are never afraid of long odds or when it seems numbers are stacked against You. In fact, it is when You like to show Your strength to a watching world. You like to leave no doubt who is responsible for the victory, and You truly deserve all the glory. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen!
