Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.  There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.”- Revelation 22:1-5

Insight:  I love the imagery of God as a flowing river. We know that we must release our tigh grip of feeling we are in control in order to release the power of God to flow in our lives like an untamed river. Psalm 46:4 saysThere is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.” That is powerful imagery for us to look forward to, an eternal resting place where a river flows through the city of God, and brings life and abundance to all life. There are so many things that weigh us down in this life, worry can seem to be our constant companion., We all deal with things bigger than us, things that can cause us to carry a heavy burden. We need to release those things over to God so that we can keep flowing, like a river, or we will get overwhelmed and our souls will grow weary and our effectiveness will come to a screeching halt.

So, what does a river represent to you? Here are some ideas that came to me when I was meditating on this just yesterday, and I hope they help you to visualize in some way what God as a River could mean in your own life to help ease the burdens and renew your soul. God is a river of life that is flowing, unstoppable, renewing, providing, refreshing, sustaining, effortless, powerful, calming, peaceful, majestic, unforced, cascading and life giving. Enjoy that imagery and slow down and draw close to the River of Life who alone is all sufficient. Let Him provide the water for your thirsty and parched soul. We all need it, and He is waiting to provide it. All we need to do is seek Him, and let the River of Life  flow through us as we release, in order to receive the care our souls deeply need.

Prayer:  God, You are the River of Life who can provide the rest and healing that our tired and weary souls need. We invite You in, please draw close and provide energy to our parched lives. Amen.
