Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.” Psalm 139:1-4

Insight: I was thinking today about how my dog loves me no matter what. She is always happy to see me, never holds a grudge, has no idea if I am in a bad mood, or had a bad day, but just smothers me with unconditional love. She loves to play with me, go on walks, never disagrees with my plan and loves just hanging with me. She really is a dog that sees no faults in me, but just loves me because I am her owner. I started thinking that I wish I really was like the person my dog thinks I am. I desperately want to be the person my dog thinks I am. I wish I was that loyal, that dependable, that trustworthy with everything God brings into my life. But the truth is, I am not. I am broken, flawed, and marred by the weight of my sin. I do not forgive as easily as I want to, and I more judgmental than I want to be, and I am not nearly as patient as I should be, and that is only the very beginning of the list that could go on and on.

But then when I read the scripture from Psalm 139:1-4 above, it reminds me that there really is a Being who does know everything about me, to the point where in Matthew 10:30 it says “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” And the most amazing thing about the fact that God knows everything about me, is that He loves me deeply in spite of all the things I think, say and do that are idiotic at best. That blows my mind. In His book, the Bible, I am called treasured, chosen, loved, redeemed, reconciled, forgiven and cherished. I am a child of God, because I have accepted His Son Jesus as my Lord & Savior. I have to pinch myself when I think of the magnitude of what happened when I confessed with my tongue and believed in my heart Jesus as Lord, as Romans 10:9 says. In an instant I was transformed, I was a new creation ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ) my sins were forgiven, I was smothered with His grace and mercy and given the power of the Holy Spirit, to live in me, the same power ( John 14:12 ) that Jesus relied upon when he walked the earth to do amazing, unimaginable things like raise Lazarus from the dead, heal the blind, mute and deaf, feed the 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish and walk upon the water. Oh, what a God we serve. He knows everything about me and despite all of my crud, He loves me even more than my dog, and that is saying a lot.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your unimaginable love that knows no boundaries. I am in awe that you could save a wretch like me and use me for your eternal purposes. The old has passed away, the new has come because of the Love of Jesus on the Cross to reconcile me back to you. I am eternally grateful.  Amen!
