Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate—    bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.” – Psalm 104:14-15

Insight: As we continue our series on Understanding The Times, today let’s consider in more detail the great hope we have as Christians because of the sufficiency, strength and power of Jesus Christ and the eternal nature of God’s Kingdom. Today’s verse is a beautiful reminder of how God provides all that is necessary for His grand Creation to exist. In his book “Anxious For Nothing,” Max Lucado paints a brilliant picture of the sustaining grace and beauty of the Lord that causes everything to work out in it’s own time. Lucado says “God is the energy and energizing force behind everything. No moment, event or detail falls outside of his supervision. He stands before the Universe like a symphony conductor before the orchestra, calling forth the elements to play their part in the divine reprise. God is the one in charge of everything, even the details of our lives. He isn’t making up this plan as He goes along. And He didn’t wind up the clock and walk away.”

What a great reminder this is for us as believers when the whole world seems to be slipping away, like we have collectively lost our minds. We have forgotten how to live, how to treat one another over foolish things like politics and disagreements. Life is very hard right now, and many people are feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and depression. That is why it is maybe more important than ever to come back to God. To put aside foolish things, and cling to what is great. We must repent, as individuals and collectively as a Nation, and we must turn back to our firm foundation in the Lord, the thing that made our Country so great in the first place. 2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us that as long as there is still time on the clock, God can give us another chance at restoration when it says “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” He is the God of the last chance, the 2nd chance, the fat chance and the slim chance. He is more patient than we can ever imagine or deserve, but eventually His patience will run out. We need to repent now, and we must remember how good and faithful He is. So we must come back to celebrate the glory of our God, and stop with our prideful temper tantrums about how bad the world is, and instead rejoice in our glory tantrums, where we praise Him for all He is and the fact He hasn’t given us what our sin deserves, but hs instead rescued us from it through His Son Jesus. He is love, and He wants us to come back to His love and away from all the lesser things that cause anger and division.

Prayer: Father God, thank You that You love us so much that You are so patient with us, even when our actions don’t deserve it. Help us to praise you, for You deserve all the glory. Amen!
