Insight:  Sometimes song lyrics can give us great hope and put things into proper perspective. The simple act of worshipping the Lord is a mood elevator and needs to be an everyday occurrence for a Christian. The fact is when we sing, when we pour out our praise to the Lord, we feel better. This week we will look at some of my favorite Christian song lyrics that lift my mood and reset my focus on the strength, love and grace of our God. Today, let’s consider some lyrics from the song “Your Grace Finds Me,” by Matt Redman. I will look at a few lyrics from this song as a reminder for us of His great grace. One stanza goes It’s there on the wedding day. There in the weeping by the graveside. There in the very breath we breathe, your great grace. Same for the rich and poor. Same for the saint and for the sinner. Enough for this whole wide world, your great grace, oh such grace. From the Creation to the Cross, there from the Cross into eternity, your grace finds me. Yes, your grace finds me. There in the darkness night of the soul, there in the sweetest songs of victory, your grace finds me. Yes, your grace finds me. Your great grace, oh such grace. Your great grace, oh such grace.

Grace is one of the key elements of God’s great love for us that was poured out upon us through Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. That was the single greatest act of love and grace in human history, and it changes those who receive it. We have been set free from our due penalty as a result of our sin by the blood of Christ shed for us for the forgiveness of such sins. That is amazing grace! Matt Redman does an amazing job of capturing its life changing impact in his lyrics above. One thing I hear a lot of people say about why they aren’t a Christian is that they have made such a mess of their life that “there is no way God could forgive or love me.” But in actual fact, the exact opposite is true: No matter how far we have run from the Lord, He is still waiting for us to return. No matter how big a mess we have made of our life, His grace is greater still. God’s grace is deeper than all of our sin, and it never runs out..

The devil uses guilt and despair as one of the many weapons in his arsenal designed to keep us out of the loving arms of the Savior. But the truth is that God’s love and grace and mercy are always greater than our ability to comprehend, simply because it is not based on our reason but on His unending well of grace and love. So, no matter how big of a mess you have made of your life, know that Jesus is still waiting for you with open arms and He wants to restore you and welcome you into His eternal kingdom. Don’t wait another day, run to Him and His grace!

Prayer: Father God, thank you that your love and grace for us is so much greater than our sin, and so much deeper than we can ever fathom. May that singular thought cause those who have not yet accepted you because of their own feelings of guilt and shame simply come running to you. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!
