Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above.Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away.”- Psalm 148:1-6

Insight:  One of my favorite Christian songs is by Hillsong, and is called “So will I.” It is a song about how all of nature sings of God’s glory that shines all around us. In our busyness and distraction, we can easily miss the majesty of God that is literally right in front of our face. It could be in a small, miraculous wonder of nature such as takes place when a Caterpillar becomes a Moth. It could be in the rhythmic Ocean tides that flow in and out each day on command. It could be in a Harvest Moon or in a flower of a desert cactus providing food for a hungry bird. The splendor of God’s creation is truly all around us, but many of us are simply walking through life with our head too attached to our smart phone to even notice.

One of my favorite verses of the song So Will I simply says “every painted sky is a canvas of your grace.” When you next see a remarkably beautiful sky at sunrise or sunset, pause to give thanks to the God of all Creation, who wants to awe you in wonder at what He has done. Nature is truly singing His praises all around us as Psalm 148 above alludes to, but often we simply shrug. if we aren’t careful, we can become numb to the awe and wonder of the Universe we live in, and the precision required to hold it all together. A little closer to the Sun and we were being incinerated; a little further away and we would freeze to death. The Universe truly works in unfathomable perfection in His perfect design. But we are God’s glorious possession, and He also holds us together through His Son Jesus. Colossians 1:17 says “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”  Our lives function so much better when we are aware of and give thanks for all the beauty God has created, both around us, and in and through us. Let us praise His Holy name, for He is truly worthy of all our praise.
