Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you  when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;  all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”- Psalm 139:13-16

Insight: One of the things that I find very helpful in my faith walk is to look back at the Ancient names that the Jewish people had for God and apply it to my current situation. This reminds me that God has many different attributes and characteristics that are meant to provide the help we need in our life journey for exactly what we need, when we exactly need it. God is bigger than our wildest imaginations. He is Omniscient ( All Knowing ) Omnipotent ( All Powerful ) and Omni-Present. ( Everywhere at once ) He cannot be, nor should He be, shrunk down to our life size box we try to fit Him into so we can better understand Him. However, He does want us to know Him and His ways in a most personable manner.

Tonight we will consider the name El-Roi. El- Roi means the strong one who sees. When you feel lonely and abandoned by people, know that God is with you. He sees you and He knows you. He hears the cry of your heart and He loves you more than you can imagine. He will lead you through and fill your heart with His praise. Let’s face it, in this life we can all  feel lonely and abandoned at times. Technology can leave us with many ‘followers,” but few friends who truly understand us, or more importantly who can be there when we need them most. Those 2 am friends who will show up for you in the middle of the night when you are most in need. In these times, it is critical to remember God is El-Roi. He not only sees you, but He knows everything about You. Psalm 139:14-15 says “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.” Always remember that even when you are lonely, in Christ Jesus you are never alone. He is with you, He is wild about You and He cares so much for You that He paid the ultimate price to save you, and to pay your sin tab in full.  You are never out of the sight of El- Roi, the God of strength who sees you.

Prayer: God we thank You that you are El-Roi , the God of strength who sees us. You know everything about us, and You still love us, even when we are unloveable. What amazing love this is that we can know we are never out of your sight. You watch over us and in your strength you fight for us. We thank you. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen!
