Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture- “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.”- Isaiah 40:28
Insight: One of the things that I find very helpful in my faith walk is to look back at the Ancient names that the Jewish people had for God and apply it to my current situation. This reminds me that God has many different attributes and characteristics that are meant to provide the help we need in our life journey for exactly what we need, when we exactly need it. God is bigger than our wildest imaginations. He is Omniscient ( All Knowing ) Omnipotent ( All Powerful ) and Omni-Present. ( Everywhere at once ) He cannot be, nor should He be, shrunk down to our life size box we try to fit Him into so we can better understand Him. However, He does want us to know Him and His ways in a most personable manner.
Tonight we will consider the name Elohim. Elohim means God is Creator, powerful and mighty, Lord of lords. He is the Lord Most High, stronger and mightier than anyone or anything. When you face impossible circumstances or adversaries, know that your God is stronger. How many times in the last few years have you faced odds that seemed impossible or insurmountable? How many times did you try to fix the problems you encountered yourself, only to realize that your strength wasn’t sufficient? How many times did you finally submit to God and ask for His help? Do you call on the name Elohim, the powerful and mighty Lord of lords and King of kings? I know that for me personally, I need to know God is there for me and able to provide the strength I need when I need it, which recently has been often.
This world is a confusing and chaotic mess at times, and we can see our strength and wisdom evaporate quickly and often be insufficient for the challenges we face, and the complexity that lies within those challenges. But Elohim provides the strength and power we need time after time to keep us moving forward and to face our challenges head on. He is the Creator of all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 says “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” So when your world feels like it is falling apart, you can be sure that Elohim is holding it together and His strength and power are sufficient for you.
Prayer: God we thank You that you are Elohim , the Creator of all, powerful and mighty, Lord of lords. You are bigger than any adversaries or challenges we face. You alone can hold us together when we feel like everything in our life is falling apart. We praise Your Holy name Lord Jesus. Amen!
