Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture– “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. “- Jeremiah 29:13
Insight: All aspects of our walk with God require us to be in alignment with His will, and most importantly we must put him first, before all things, or we are fundamentally out of alignment with His will. Matthew 6:33 states this truth clearly when it says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Are you out of alignment in your walk with God? Do your deeds match your words of faith? James 1:22 commands us “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” God is waiting to help you get back into alignment. Just ask Him and He will show you where some changes might be in order. Is God first in your life? Are you prioritizing him in your life by spending time in his word and through prayer, seeking His help in solving tough problems or making difficult decisions, or are you making excuses as to why that is not the case? If so, now is a critical time to begin to get your alignment in order. Good fruit will naturally flow out of this positioning of putting God first in your heart and in your life.
There have been many times in my life where I feel like everything is a struggle. Nothing seems to come easy or work well. Have you ever felt like that? I have found that many times it is because I have slipped out of alignment, just like a car’s tires can from over use or lack of care. It is easy to let the world pull us in a direction that seems right to us, but in the end it leaves us fatigued and unfulfilled. I have come to know that my life works best when I am in proper alignment and for me, that simply means God is first, my family is next, and everything else is after that. When I put God first intentionally, it takes a commitment, but it is so worth it because without His guidance and wisdom leading me, nothing else can work. I put my family next, because God’s word instructs us to be loving husbands and involved fathers. That means sometimes I have to say no to friends or to other activities I may want to engage in, such as golf, or working out with my friends or grabbing a beer. Our families are a most precious gift from God, and He expects us men to lead them well. One of the biggest problems in our modern culture is we have twisted God’s natural order of men being responsible for leading their homes and in culture in general. It is how God designed it. We then wonder why we see so many problems in our society. Lastly, anything else that is a part of my life comes after God and family, including work, and it can then naturally fall into place. In those moments when I get this alignment right, life flows easy and the days are filled with joy.
Alignment is so critical. You can work yourself to death if out of alignment, and on the other hand you can reap bountiful blessings when working under God’s desired structure. In fact, a shocking promise from God is found in the Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” So ask yourself a simple question: Are you living in alignment with how God wants you to live? Are you seeking him above all else? If so, He promises you will find Him in Jeremiah 29:13 and your days will go much better.
Prayer: God, when we are aligned with you, good deeds should flow naturally from our wellspring of life that reflects our close proximity to you, and we are filled with your wisdom and guidance, love and grace. If there are obstacles in the way of our relationship with you, please reveal them to us, and then help us to remove them. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen!
