Insight: Sometimes it takes a worship song to express in words what we are feeling in our heart. That is exactly what happened to me in Church this weekend when I heard lyrics from a song called “Believe For It.” The lyrics brought tears to my eyes as they poured out the contents of my heart. I think if we are honest, we are all confused right now about what is happening in our Country and our world. We all seem to be so divided, like we are each other’s enemies instead of friends and neighbors. One divisive issue after another seems to be magnified by a deceitful press that seems to be acting as an agent of satan himself as Ephesians 2:1-2 points to as it refers to him as “the prince of the air.” It feels like we are doing satan’s dirty work for him as we devour each other over social, political and economic issues while he sits back enjoying the show. It seems like we’re caught up in a battle over which we have no control. We shouldn’t be too surprised because Ephesians 6:12 says it is so when it proclaims “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms,”  but it still feels so strange that it is happening in our lifetime, playing out right before our very eyes. Right is called wrong, evil is called good, our kids are under vile attacks to learn a hateful and racist Marxist agenda called CRT at the very schools we entrust our children to. Somehow, we have elected officials in our very country to the highest offices of power who seem to hate America. They seem to  revile it and speak against it in a shocking manner. How did they get in those positions? Where did they come from and who orchestrated it all?

Sometimes  it feels like we are weak and feeble, simply too inept to do anything about it, and in fact in our own strength we are. We are kicking against forces that are beyond our measure. But then we turn to the promises of scripture that give us hope and perspective. We remember when “we are weak, He is strong,” as the promises in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 point to. We remember that this battle is not ultimately ours but his. We remember He always gets the final say, and the ultimate victory was already won at the Cross. We read the Scriptures from above and remember that we serve a faithful God. Then we hear the lyrics in a song to anchor our souls and give us hope, to remember there is  power in the mighty name of Jesus. Here are some of  the lyrics from the song “Believe For It,” that through my tears lifted me up this weekend and I pray they do for you as well: “They say this Mountain can’t be moved. They say these chains will never break. But they don’t know You like we do. There is power in your name. We’ve heard that there is no way through. We’ve heard the tide will never change. They haven’t seen what you can do. There is power in Your name. So much power in Your name. Move the immovable, break the unbreakable, God we believe for it. From the impossible, we’ll see a miracle. God we believe. God we believe for it.”  What an amazing song and may it be our cry to the Lord that we believe for it- whatever it looks like in your life and however high the odds seem stacked against you, God is greater than all of our problems. There is so much power in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father God, help us Lord. Things seem so bleak at times, but we know that you Lord always get the final say. Move the immovable, break the unbreakable, God we believe for it. From the impossible, we’ll see a miracle. God we believe. God we believe for it. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
