Scripture: “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; – John 11:25

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. – Romans 6:5

“So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; – 1 Corinthians 15:42

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. – 1 Peter 1:3

Insight: Because the Tomb was empty, His promises were not. The greatest man in history, had no servants yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. he took our spiritual rap sheet upon His shoulders so we could be found blameless and reconciled to His FATHER for all of eternity. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. His name is Jesus, do you know Him?

What a glorious day Easter Sunday is for all Christians. While the World celebrates bunnies and chocolate, good things in themselves, we get to celebrate the great hope we have in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who defeated sin and death and crushed the head of the enemy when He was raised to eternal life. This is the source of our confidence about our future destination, and the only reason that we can we live without the fear of death that grips those who reject the resurrection promise of Christ. Easter is truly a day of celebration. It is a day to reflect on how faithful God is to keep all of His promises about how His Son has come to give us hope that this life is not all there is. That John 3:16-17 is true when it proclaims “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” We are indeed saved through the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. The captives have been set free. Sin no longer has a hold over us. Our sin tab has been paid in full by the blood of Christ on the Cross. His resurrection confirms God’s covenant to save His people from the enemy of our souls. May all the earth rejoice!

Prayer: Father God, may those who don’t know you have the scales removed from their eyes on this Easter Sunday so that they can truly see the power of the resurrection of your Son and what it means for their lives. Help many to be saved during this time of joyful celebration that they also can share in the resurrection hope of Christ Jesus. You loved us too much to just leave us stranded in our sin. Thanks that you sent us a life line in the form of your Son Jesus, who came down from Heaven to pay the price for our sin that we could never pay, so that we could be reconciled back to you for all of eternity. How great though art Lord! Your love knows no boundaries Lord and is greater than we can ever fathom. We humbly say on this great day thank you Lord.  Hallelujah! Let all the world rejoice.
