Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”- Matthew 28:20 (b)

Insight: Due to popular demand, and an overwhelming need for me as the writer to indulge in worship as well during these difficult days, this week we will return to lyrics that lift our souls and focus our attention on the goodness, strength and sufficiency of an all powerful God through worship. The very act of worship invites God into our lives, into our difficulties. It draws Him in, so we can sense His presence. It allows us to not minimize our problems, but instead to shift our focus from our problems to His sovereign ability to help strengthen us through our storms. We should never diminish our struggles, but we can worship the One who is bigger than the storms we face by falling on our faces, and seeking His help. He is bigger than our addictions, bigger than our divorce, bigger than our financial situation, bigger than any problem we face. When we worship Him we rightly agree that because He is so big, He alone can make our problems seem small in comparison. But first we must surrender all things over to Him and admit how much we need Him. We must admit that on our own, we don’t have nearly enough of what it takes to overcome the storm we are facing. But we must first invite Him in. Complaining pushes God away, but worship invites Him in, to draw near to us.

Very few songs I have heard recently are more powerful than the song “ I Am Not ALone,” by Kari Jobe. This song resonates deep in our soul with the truth of who God is and the hope that He alone can bring. Here are some of my favorite lyrics: “In the midst of deep sorrows, I see your light is breaking through. The dark of the night, will not overtake me. I am pressing into you. Lord, you fight my every battle, and I will not fear. I am not alone. I am not alone. You will go before me. You will never leave me. I am not alone. I am not alone. You will go before me. You will never leave me. You amaze me, redeem me, You call me as your own. You amaze me, redeem me, call me as your own. You’re my strength, you’re my defender, you’re my refuge in the storm. Through these trials you’ve always been faithful. You bring healing to my soul. I am not alone. I am not alone. You will go before me. You will never leave me.”

Just singing this song brings so much worship into our life. It is a plea and a remembrance that God is with us, and we don;t fight our battles alone. It is however up to us to invite Him in. Be  sure you do, and His strength will help you in the middle of your storm.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that you are an all powerful and sufficient God who never leaves us. You are with us in the midst of our struggles. May we always remember to invite you in. Amen!
