Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.- Matthew 5:9

Insight: In day 23 of learning to apply biblical principles to our daily life as we march towards Easter, what we are referring to as Practical Christianity, let’s consider what it means to be peacemakers in a world that is full of division and hatred. I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that as Christians, God expects us to stand in the gaps that exist in the world, and become peacemakers through our words, deeds and actions. Jesus taught His greatest lessons in the Sermon on the Mount, and being a peacemaker was so important to Him that He said whoever does this will be called “children of God.” In other words, they will reflect the very character of God. That is pretty huge praise!

So how can we practically apply this thought process of being peacemakers to our lives? 1. We must understand the times we are living in. The media is dividing the world through heated political rhetoric and hatred and intolerance of those that disagree with them. 2. Therefore, as Christ followers we must live above the fray and remind people that we are not identified by a political party, but as human beings dearly loved by God. We are called “His Children,” and we must reflect that in our interactions with others. 3. We must look for, and actively seek out, opportunities to help others who are suffering and in need. We can help in many ways, but each can help in the way that best suits their talents and the longings of their heart. 4. We must pray continually as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 implores us. We must pray for our families, our neighbors, our communities, our Nation and the World. We must have the mindset that we are many, yet we are one. The world desperately needs Christians to pray, because Christ is the only possible answer to what ails us. No politician is going to unify us, the division is to toxic. Our only hope is in Christ and we must show people what that looks like as Christians so they can see what true peace looks like. It comes from the inside out, and it is the only force capable of changing the brokenness in the world today.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give us strength to be peacemakers in a world that desperately needs cooler heads to prevail. We must put issues like race aside, and remember we are all part of the human race, and care for one another the way that you commanded us to. We pray for strength to do this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
