Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.
Scripture– “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”- Jeremiah 29:13
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”- Matthew 6:33
Insight: One thing I have learned as I have matured in my faith walk, is there comes a time when you need to simply lay aside everything else and seek God above all else. To use today’s vernacular, we need to poop or get off the pot. It’s really that simple, and the time is now. We don’t need any more worship songs, and more sermons or lessons from the pulpit, we simply need more God! We need to just seek Him deep in our souls. We need to cry out to him. We need to be vulnerable before Him and confess our sins, be repentant and ask Him to strengthen us for whatever we struggle with. We need His guidance, His mercy, His grace. We need His love and His truth. Everything else in the world will leave us with at best a temporary elixir. Only God can truly satisfy us deep in our souls.
Paul uses an analogy of milk and solid food to distinguish between those who understood this concept of truly seeking God, and those who were simply going through the motions. 1 Corinthians 3:2 says “I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.” Many of us struggle with having a few toes in the world’s pool, and a few toes in Jesus’s pool and we end up not being satisfied at all. We need to be fully in for God’s power to truly change our lives. The time is now to make that decision. We can see the Holy Spirit is moving all throughout this land, with revival in the air and beginning to spread throughout many University campuses. We surely don’t want to miss out on what God is doing and to be fully involved, we need to walk in harmony with the Holy Spirit guiding us. The only way to accomplish that is to be all in for God, and to seek Him above all else. He promises when we do, we will surely find Him, and when we find Him we find all the peace and understanding that our souls are crying out for. Everything else only leaves us empty in the long run. It’s time to admit this truth and seek Him above all else!
Prayer: Father God, help us to be honest with ourselves and admit that nothing we have tried on our own has ever really satisfied us. Instead, help us seek You above all else. Let us cry out and say it from the bottom of our lungs: We need You Lord! We want You Lord. Please come into our lives with fresh power and restore our souls. Amen!
