Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Insight:  Many times I feel like my will gets in the way of God’s plan. Have you ever had that thought? I mean I can be totally impatient and want things my way, and in my timing. But that can hinder the bigger plan that God wants for me. This perspective is really important and is made clear in the scripture above from Revelation 3:7-8 when it says that God can “open doors that no one can shut, and shut doors that no one can open.” I think many times we can get discouraged if we don’t have this perspective in place. I know I can get down when it seems like many doors are being closed that in my limited knowledge I wanted opened. But it could be that God is protecting us when he closes those doors, or it could be that He has a much better door that He wants to open to have the maximum impact for His Kingdom and His glory. In this mindset, I can find hope instead of discouragement because I know that He alone knows what the future holds and what the best path is for me. So my prayer has to be, “Lord open the door you want  me to walk through and don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of that, and shut every other door that is not of your will and let no force open it.” Then and only then can I let go of my anxiety and discouragement when things seem to not be going in the direction of my choosing. Amen!
