Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”- Romans 15:13

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”- John 14:26

Insight: As we continue on with our series on Practical Christianity, today we consider the power we have within us in the form of the Holy Spirit, who is freely given to us at the day of our salvation. Quite simply, no one could live the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit living inside of them. It is impossible. Even then, we will struggle to fully surrender our lives over to God in a complete manner because we are sinful people living in a sinful world. But over time, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we learn to see the benefit of surrendering our way and letting Christ’s ways flow through us. Dr. Charles Stanely once said “our intimacy with God will determine the impact of our lives.” I think this is such a profound statement which I see as critical to understanding our need to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to lead us in this manner because on our own, there is no way to do it. The Holy Spirit brings the power as we create more room for Him by surrendering more of our life to Christ.

The Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity has many roles and attributes. He is called many things such as Spirit of Truth, Wise Counselor, Leader, Affirmer and  Protector. He is full of power and He is like our Spiritual Travel Guide who makes our path secure if we follow Him. He is always there for us, our personal conduit between us and Jesus. He is the key to living a victorious Christian life. Do you know Him? He is as close as you allow Him to be, so call on His power and strength to uphold you during all the days of your life.

Prayer: Holy Spirit You are welcome here. Come lead our lives and take the wheel. We need You and your unlimited power now more than ever. Amen!
