Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:39-40

Insight: When we feel the stress of the storm, we learn the strength of the Anchor. Been in any storms lately? Not just the horrific storms of Mother Nature such as Hurricanes, Tornados or Wildfires that lead to untold catastrophes, but the storms of life that rock your foundation to its core, like a global pandemic or a financial disaster not of your own making. Maybe it is a storm in your personal life, where you are being persecuted because of your faith, or there’s a storm of discontentment in your marriage or a struggle with your children. Maybe it’s a storm in the workplace where you are being falsely accused.  Maybe it’s your health. Whatever the case, we can rest assured that in this life we all will go through storms. Jesus himself said it would be so in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

So now that we agree we will have storms in our lives than bring damage and rock our equilibrium and confidence the bigger question is where or to whom do we run to in the storms of life to find strength? Jesus is the only one I have found that is bigger and stronger than all my storms and is able to provide a safe harbor in the midst of the tempest that is roaring all around me. Have you invited Him into your storms? He is an Anchor for our soul, and His strength can carry us through. He keeps us from being led adrift and crashing against the rocks. His promises comfort us and give us a firm foundation on which we can stand as Matthew 7:24-25 says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  Anything other than Christ is shifting sand, and will not withstand the storms of life. He alone is the Anchor that we must trust in for peace and tranquility amidst the swirling chaos of this life.

Prayer: Father God, we need your help in dealing with the storms of our life, both horrific physical storms as well as spiritual, emotional and financial ones, so thank you that you sent Jesus, who is our Anchor in the midst of the storms. He is the solid rock on which our foundation can stand. He is the Cornerstone that holds our life together, even in the midst of seemingly endless chaos. We praise His great name. Amen.
