Scripture: “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 1:6
Insight: God is still writing your story. Quit trying to steal the pen. Trust the author. I read this quote the other day and boy did it humble me. How many times am I guilty of trying to steal God’s pen! I want to grab control, carve my own path at the first hint of things not going the way I prefer in my life. I sometimes wonder how much oxygen I have stolen from God’s plan for my life? If only I would simply get out of the way and allow Him to work in my life unfettered. I know His ways and plans are so much higher than mine ( Isaiah 55:8-9 ) and that He wants to counsel me into the way I should go ( Psalm 32:8 ) and yet many times I try to steal God’s pen and write the story myself, instead of just fully trusting the Author and knowing that His story for me is not finished yet. The verse above should be a great reminder that God will always finish what He has started in His people. He wastes nothing, and He won’t leave our story unfinished. We only need to be really right one time in our life in order to reach our destiny. Winston Churchill had a great perspective on this mindset when he said “success is going from one failure to another without ever losing your enthusiasm.” Life can be hard, and we all make many mistakes. The key is to trust the Author, who is still writing our story, and not keep trying to steal His pen!
Prayer: Father God, thank You that You waste nothing and You will complete the good works You have started in us until the day of completion. You are the Author of our story’s. Help us to rest in that thought and help us to stop trying to steal your pen!
