Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”- John 14:16-17

Insight: As we continue our series on Understanding The Times, today let’s consider in more detail the great hope we have as Christians because of the sufficiency, strength and power of Jesus Christ and the eternal nature of God’s Kingdom. Today’s verse focuses on the promise that we have the 3rd person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, living in us once we accept Christ as our Savior, and that is very good news indeed. This means that we have direct access to God, a conduit by which we can communicate. That means both speaking and listening. Listening is usually much harder for us, but I would argue it is very critical at this present time. God speaks to His people through His still, small voice ( 1 Kings 19:12 ) but we need to quiet all the noise around us in order to hear from Him. This means being intentional about finding quiet time and quiet spaces where we unplug from the noise that is all around us, and we seek the Truth from God and His word that we need in order to understand what’s really happening right now.

Jesus spent much time explaining to His Followers what the role of the Holy Spirit would be. He explained how the Spirit would be crucial in them being able to go forward once Jesus was physically removed from this world. John 16:12-15 says “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” Notice specifically Jesus focuses on the word “truth,” a word that is severely lacking in today’s onslaught of misleading information. Truth has been replaced with opinion, or in some cases, replaced via an outright attack on God’s word and His sovereignty. People are being taught to identify themselves through a pronoun, instead of as a simple male or female, a direct assault by satan, using the corrupted media, on God’s sovereignty. The media tells us to ‘follow the science” on a whole bunch of issues where the science is very cloudy or debatable, but on the one scientific fact that is irrefutable, that you are either born with male or female DNA as Genesis 1:27 states, they say follow the pronoun that you feel best fits your description of yourself. How evil is that?

God got the first word, and He will have the last word, and those who are responsible for throwing those who don’t know the Truth into such confusion will be held responsible for their actions. This is just one example of why it is so important to know the Truth these days, and you hear the Truth by listening to God’s still, small voice whispered to you through the Holy Spirit. That’s why it’s so important to get away and simply be still. Unplug from all the noise and remove all the distractions. God wants to speak with you, but you have to be available to listen. Are you?

Prayer: Jesus, thank you that you gave us the Holy Spirit who indwells us who believe at the time of our conversion, so we can hear from you and know the truth, the real truth, and that truth is what can set us free (John 8:32 ) from all the noise, lies and distractions that are all around us. Amen!
