Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”- Matthew 19:26

Insight: We must always remember that we are defined not by what others say about us, but only by what God says about us. One of the crazier things I have seen lately is people trying to define themselves by Pronouns, like ‘her’ “She” “His.” etc. God made us so much bigger than to identify ourselves in that way. He lets us know at various points in the Bible and in no uncertain terms how special we are to Him. We are created by Him, loved by Him, adored by Him, pursued by Him, rescued by Him, protected by Him and redeemed by Him. Psalm 139:13-17 gives just a little taste of the intimacy He feels towards us and the uniqueness of every human life when it says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts,God!  How vast is the sum of them!” Does that sound like you can be defined by a Pronoun? No, you are so much more than that. You are a friend, a brother or sister, a husband or a wife. You are a teacher, a Mother or a Father, a Lawyer, a Banker or a Cop. You are so much more than a Pronoun, so never define yourself as such.

Likewise, our past mistakes and failures don’t have to define us either if we repent and bring them to the cross and lay them down at the feet of Jesus. We don’t need to keep tormenting ourselves for our past mistakes, we’ve already admitted them and then buried them, so we need to move forward and not keep beating ourselves up. In fact, God will often use our place of greatest struggle to show us His power to gain the victory, and then use us to be a witness to others who may be struggling with the same thing. He uses His people as His hands and feet, and I have seen so many powerful ministries spring up from the ashes of what seemed helpless to instead become forces of good in so many lives.

We may be struggling with certain habits, addictions or behaviors that are destructive forces in our lives, and we may feel too weak to overcome them, but we must always remember that with Jesus all things are possible. When we feel really weak, then we can know we are in a good spot because that is when Jesus can show us His strength. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is a go to promise in the Bible for anyone that is struggling with anything that they feel too weak in their own strength to overcome. It simply says: “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Never forget that last part- “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” That’s usually the breaking point, when we finally admit that whatever we are facing is simply too much for us, and it can also be the turning point when we admit how much we need Jesus to help us. It can be the beginning of our comeback. I have an addictive personality and I am easy prey for the enemy at times. But I have learned to put my trust in the power of Jesus and asked for His help in overcoming things that were too big for me, and He has always come through for me, 100% of the time. That is why I love Him so much and why I take to heart the promises of scripture that give me such hope and encouragement during my struggles like Matthew 19:26 above that says, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This is true for all of us. All we need to do is claim the victory over whatever seems too big for us in the mighty power of Christ Jesus!

Prayer: Father God, give us the strength in You to overcome those things in our life that are just too big for us and help us to always remember how wonderfully unique we are. We can never define ourselves by a Pronoun, but by the names You give each of us as a unique child of God!
