Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.
“Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” He said to the crowd: “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘It’s going to rain,’ and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It’s going to be hot,’ and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?“Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?”- Luke 12:51-57
Insight: As we continue our look this week into what is really happening in the world right now, let us consider the division we are seeing throughout the earth right now. To be honest, some of this is personal opinion, but I believe most of it is drawn from a structurally sound scriptural viewpoint. In the end, none of my opinions or anyone else’s will really matter, but only God’s word and His Kingdom will last forever. But we all can sense that there is trouble in the air. The world seems to be spinning out of control, world’s are colliding, chaos is all around and fear is rampant. People are more divided than anytime in my life and it seems divisive issues just keep flowing one right after another. Just in the last 18 months, we have witnessed huge divisions around the globe regarding the Covid-19 Virus and its origin,vaccinations and their effectiveness, political elections in the USA and elsewhere like Brexit in the U.K. that were extremely polarizing. It seems that with the advent of social media and everyone having access to share their opinions publicly, including my own, that division is here to stay as a staple of living life in the 21st Century.
As we look around, we see chaos everywhere. We see governments intruding into the personal rights and the civil liberties of their citizens to gain more control We see the media, especially social media, gaining huge influence in directing people’s thoughts and dictating Orwellian type narratives that you must agree with or you will be ostracized socially, emotionally and soon financially. They create narratives that so contradict the Bible that you know only satan could be behind such thinking. We shouldn’t be surprised because one of the names for satan in the Bible is “prince of the air” found in Ephesians 2:2 in various translations like the TLB version that says “You went along with the crowd and were just like all the others, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air, who is at work right now in the hearts of those who are against the Lord.“ The media tells us to follow the science when it comes to the Corona Virus and vaccines, but at the same time they refute the one thing that is the most irrefutable scientific fact of all: That gender is not based on emotion, but is based on Biology! It is a direct assault on the authority of God and His Creation of male and female from Genesis 1:27 “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
The end result of this type of disastrous messaging is a bunch of children growing up in a world where they have no idea who they are. They think they can just declare themselves to be a woman, when even a 2 year old would know they are a man. The bible is clear that this is the type of wicked deception the enemy brings upon the world when he takes godless people captive to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:26 says, “and pray that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” Again In John 8:44 we see how the enemy uses godless people to sow deception and division through lies and misinformation: “For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth—there is not an iota of truth in him. When he lies, it is perfectly normal; for he is the father of liars.” The enemy is using the media to fulfill his divisive tactics through deception and manipulation to a tee and the end result is the chaos we see all around us today.
But as Christians, should we really be surprised? I mean Jesus himself in the scripture above from Luke 12:51 talked about the division His message would bring to the earth. The light of the Gospel exposes the darkness in our own soul’s, and people don’t like the idea of confronting their own sinfulness. It is much easier to simply pretend it doesn’t exist, or isn’t a big deal, but the light and truth of Jesus’s message makes that impossible, and so friction is created that leads to division. People walking in darkness do not like the Light. 1 John 5:5-6 summarizes this well: “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.” The gospel penetrates deep into our soul, as Hebrews 4:12 says, and if we reject it’s truth over time the enemy creates hostility towards the very nature of truth, and we are seeing that play out on the earth today. Evil is being called good, and good is called evil, as Isaiah 5:20 warned against. As Christians, this is offensive to our souls, but again we shouldn’t be surprised because 1 John 5:19 let us know that this would occur for a bit until Jesus returns: “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” However, we must always be aware that God is always the One who is working all things out, and is even allowing this period of satanic led chaos on the earth to accomplish His plan, which is to grow His Kingdom and save many souls before Christ returns to rapture the church, right all the wrongs and defeat the enemy once and for all at the end of the tribulation. So, we have an eternal hope that the glory of God is never extinguished and the victory is ours through Christ Jesus and His work on the Cross.
Prayer: Father God, we know that ultimately everything is being used by You to accomplish your will and your plan, and it is a glorious plan. However, we admit that this time on the earth is very hard, as we seem to see evil winning, if only temporarily and destroying many lives and demoralizing the whole world. Help your people Lord. Protect us and surround us with your love and light. Give us amazing courage, wisdom and discernment through your power, to be Ambassadors of Light for a time such as this. Amen!
