Scripture- “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9

Insight: – My desire in life is to be the person my dog thinks I am. If you have a dog, you can probably relate to that thought. I mean, we can all agree that dogs are a man’s best friend, but dogs also are our biggest fans. They see us as all loving, all knowing and all comforting. They are fully dependent on us for their survival. We pick up their poop, which I have often thought, if there are Aliens, they would think dogs run Planet Earth as we follow behind them with little plastic bags and collect their deposits. We feed them, we walk them, we play with them, we comfort them, and we care for them. For that, they look at us like we are the greatest thing on this earth. Dogs see us in a sacrificial, loving manner that never sees our faults, and only sees our goodness and compassion. Oh, how I want to become the man my dog thinks I am!

But do you know who else thinks we are pretty special? God! In the scripture above from 1 Peter 2:9 He calls us his “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and His own special possession.” Do you think of yourself that way? God went all the way to the Cross with His Son Jesus to prove how much He loves us. Do you know how much you are loved? Look to the Cross to remember. Jesus paid it all, so we would never have to doubt how much God loves us. Whenever I am feeling down, and life seems hard, I try to always remember this simple fact: God loves me unconditionally and more than I can ever imagine. Even more than my dog does, and that is saying something!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your love which is so much greater than I can ever fully comprehend. I did nothing to deserve it, but because you are love and it is your very nature, you lavish your love and praises on me, even when I come up woefully short. Thank you in Jesus’ precious name. Amen!
