Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 2 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed”- 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

Insight: “Faith never knows where it is being led, but it knows and loves the one who is leading”- Oswald Chambers. I love this quote because it gives me enduring hope. This life goes by so fast, at times it all seems like a dream. We sometimes have no idea of where the path we are on will lead, and oftentimes as Christians we are called to blindly follow the One who is leading us. This is the very essence of faith. It can seem very scary at times, and at others quite exhilarating. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but we do know our ultimate destination. As the scripture above alludes to, in a flash, in a twinkling of an eye, our life on earth will be over and we will be in the glorious presence of our Savior for all of eternity.

I imagine that at that exact moment, it will truly all seem like a dream, but with a most magical ending, that will be beyond our ability to comprehend as 1 Corinthians 2:9 alludes to “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, the things God has prepared for those who love him.” The Bible promises us we will be changed, and our old perishable body will be replaced by a new, imperishable body. No more sickness, no more pain, no more tears. It will all seem like a dream.  I can’t wait for that! I’m tired of being tired. I’m tired of not losing weight when I work out, but gaining it quickly when I don’t. I’m really tired of Covid and all the coughing and sickness that never seems to fully go away, it just passes from one family member to another. So let’s enjoy this ride while we can. It will all seem like a dream soon enough.

Through all of the twists and turns, the mountain tops and the valleys, the shouts of joy and the tears of sadness, the regrets and the rejoicing, may we never lose track of how temporary this all is. Sometimes, we are all guilty of taking ourselves way too seriously, especially myself. The Mountain Tops are spectacular, but the Valleys seem deep and last a lot longer. However, with proper perspective, we can learn a lot in either situation. In fact, we can grow deeper in our faith in the Valley’s while the Mountain Tops teach us to not cling too tight to anything, knowing it never lasts forever.

God has given us a road map for perseverance in this world through faith and belief in His Son, who overcame death to give us eternal life. One day, we will see things as they clearly are. Until then we should love others as God has loved us and put our faith into the coming hope in Christ Jesus.

We may get lost a few times on our journey, we may make some mistakes that cause us great pain, or long detours, but nothing we do can keep us from our final destination. As 1 Corinthians 15:54 states, “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

Let us live victoriously in the mighty power and love of Christ, abandoned to the fears of this world, and full of the joy and excitement of being on a wild, amusement ride of a life, embracing all of the mysteries that are part of our individual story, until we arrive safely home. It will surely then all feel like a dream.

Prayer: Father God, it is a hard life at times on this side of eternity, but let us cling to the fact that this is just a temporary and momentary part of the eternal living You have built us for. Surely, in the twinkling of an eye, it will seem like a dream. I praise You for sending Your Son Jesus to us, so we don’t have to doubt our eternal destination ever again. It will be far better than we can ever hope or imagine. Amen!
