Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3:22-23

Thought of the Day-  The World is in desperate need of compassion right now. The good news God is a God of compassion. He is a God of fresh starts. He is a God of new beginnings. We may fail a 1,000 times but because of His faithfulness, His love and His compassion, we are not consumed as we read above in Lamentations 3:22-23. Each day is a new beginning and we are able to redeem our brokenness and not get consumed, because His love never fails. His compassions never fail. Have you failed lately at something you were trying to accomplish? Have you let all the distractions right now around pandemic and social justice get you off course? I know I certainly have. Sometimes it is a struggle to just get back up and join the race we were running again. We get nudged off course by events that are outside of our control and it can feel debilitating. Sometimes we are so weary of the struggle of living in this broken and sinful world that our very souls are heavy within us. When we feel like this, we must cling to the promises found in God’s word to renew us and reinvigorate us. 


When we read scripture, we must remember that it is not simply words on a page, but it is the actual breath of God on a page, designed to breathe life into us, through the Holy Spirit. It is designed for us as believers to be able to not only hear from God but to learn from God and then be able to put it into practice in our own lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 confirms this when it says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” I lean into these words when I need to be renewed. When my past disappointments are threatening to overwhelm me, I remember that God is greater than my failures and His word can get me back on my feet and into the race gain. I stumble many times in my life, but God is always there to catch me. He allows me to dream again each morning. We must not let the disappointments of our past rob us of our dreams of today and for tomorrow. Remember this verse from Lamentations when you need to be picked up because it is not just words on the page, it is God’s breath on a page. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
