Weather report from heaven: Sunny and bright with an abundance of light, and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture- “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

“She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:” – Proverbs 31:27-28

Insight: I know this is a day late, but Mothers are that important to get recognition even a day after their “official day.” There is nothing quite like the love of your mother! They say life doesn’t come with a manual, but it does come with a Mother. God makes it clear in His Word the importance of Mother’s in a household and in shaping the future generations of His children. Mothers can provide the tenderness, love, compassion, kindness, strength, influence and godliness that can shape and mold their children as they travel throughout their life’s journey. I am blessed to have a wife who is all of that and more to my two children. She is a godly woman who serves as a righteous role model that inspires our children to also know the love and strength that God provides in all who call on Him. She is a living example of Proverbs 31:27-28 above.

My mother was also a great role model of strength and perseverance in my life. Although I didn’t grow up in a godly household, we never made knowing God or church a priority, I still learned a lot from my mom. She raised me as a single mother from the time I was 12 and although we didn’t have a lot of wealth, we did have lots of love in our house. My mom always worked hard to provide what she could and even to this day, she is one tough cookie. She has overcome cancer twice in her life and is still ticking at age 85 even though she has had her fair share of disappointments and sufferings. That strength and perseverance is admirable. Most importantly, she has come to know and trust in the Lord in her later years. This is of course the most important thing that gives me hope that we will be together for all of eternity. Thank you to all the mothers out there for all you do. Mothers, you may be considered ordinary in the world’s eyes, but you are extraordinary in your children’s and God’s eyes for the roles you play in your children’s  life.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for the role that you set out in the Bible for mothers to play in our lives and in shaping the future of our children. I thank you personally for my mother and for my wife and the godly mother she is to our children. I ask for your blessing and protection for all the mothers today who are struggling to raise their children in broken homes, or though addictions, or dealing with illness or other difficult circumstances. May they turn to you for the strength and guidance they need to persevere. I also pray for you to help restore the brokenness in marital relationships that is causing great harm in our Country. I pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! Amen!
