Weather Report From Heaven: Sunny and bright, with an abundance of light and lots of singing and rejoicing.

Scripture-  “For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.”- Psalm 11:7

Insight: As we continue our look into the lessons of King David, and why he was the only person ever called “a man after God’s own heart,” in Acts 13:22, we need to consider why God said that about him. We have considered many aspects of David’s life to see what made him so fervent in his relationship with God. One area we can consider today is how David had utmost trust that the Lord is a God of righteousness and justice. In the end, David knew that the Lord’s will always prevails, and His will is bent towards righteousness and justice, towards those who fear Him, who are humbled by His power and strength to create and sustain life. God promises ultimate justice in His court and that the wicked will wither like the grass of the fields. David gained confidence from God’s promises and it caused him to pen Psalms that spoke of God’s justice and how it prevails in the end like Psalm 37:25-28 that says, ““I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing. Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.”

We all get upset when it seems like wickedness, evil and corruption are winning, similar to the times we are living in now. It’s human nature to be frustrated when the enemy causes division that rips entire Countries apart. But David learned to turn his focus from the world’s chaos and disorder to God’s promises of order and justice to keep him on course in his life. We would be wise to do the same and turn from the things in our lives that deplete us and leave us filled with anger to trusting in the promises of God. God always gets the last word and that’s why David said in Psalm 37:1-4 “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” We are living through very divisive times right now, and it”s very important to turn our focus from the current instability to the promises of God, which are a firm foundation and not subject to be swayed with the times or the world’s blasphemous ways. God is who David turned to to find confidence that in the end justice and righteousness will prevail. May it be true for us as well.

Prayer: Father God, we have nothing left to depend on except for your promises that righteousness and justice will prevail in the end. You are a Holy God and you judge the entire earth through that lens. Let us fervently seek you so we can find confidence to survive in a world filled with chaos and corruption. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen!
